computer network is a collection of interconnected devices, such as computers, servers, switches, routers, and other hardware, that are connected to each other to share resources and exchange information. The interconnected devices use a set of protocols to communicate, this allows them to share resources, communicate and collaborate with one another and with users.

Network Interface Card (NIC):
This is a hardware component that is installed in each computer or device on the network. It allows the computer to connect to the network and communicate with other devices on the network.
Router:
A router is a device that connects multiple networks together and directs data traffic between them. It also assigns IP addresses to each device on the network.
Switch:
A switch is a device that connects multiple devices on a network together and directs data traffic between them. It also assigns unique MAC addresses to each device on the network.
Hub:
A hub is a device that connects multiple devices on a network together and directs data traffic between them. It does not assign unique MAC addresses to each device on the network.
Modem:
A modem is a device that connects a computer or network to the internet. It modulates and demodulates data signals to allow communication between the computer or network and the internet.
Bridges:
These are used to connect multiple LANs together to form a single larger LAN.
Wireless Access Point (WAP):
A WAP is a device that allows wireless devices to connect to a network. It creates a wireless network and assigns IP addresses to wireless devices.
Firewall:
A firewall is a security device that monitors and controls incoming and outgoing network traffic. It helps to protect the network from unauthorized access and malicious attacks.
Network Cable:
Network cables are used to connect devices on a network together. There are different types of network cables, including copper (UTP and STP) and fiber optic cables.
Server:
A server is a computer or device that provides services and resources to other devices on the network. It can be used for file storage, email, web hosting, and other applications.
Client:
A client is a computer or device that accesses services and resources provided by a server on the network. Clients can be desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, or other devices that connect to the network.
